Tulsa Chiropractor : Dr. Howard Boos

Hello, I'm Dr. Howard Boos. My degree is DC, which stands for Doctor of Chiropractic. I am not a medical doctor, nor do I pretend to be one. I absolutely love the practice of chiropractic and I hope that this communicates to each and every one of my patients.

Dr. Howard Boos, Tulsa Chiropractor

I guess you could say that I was born a chiropractor. My father was a doctor of chiropractic as were three of my uncles and two cousins. As a matter of fact, my son-in-law is also a doctor of chiropractic. My wife likes to say that, though we didn't birth a chiropractor, at least we could marry one into the family! It's a source of pride that chiropractic is now a third generation family tradition.

Education and Chiropractic College

I am an "Okie from Muskogee", moving to Tulsa to attend high school and, afterwards, attend Oral Roberts University for pre-med classes. I received my chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa... which is convenient because unbeknownst to me, that's where my wife-to-be just happened to be living. Palmer is the same chiropractic college my father and uncles attended in the1950s. It is significant to me that I walked the same halls and sat in the same classrooms that my dad and uncles used as they learned the philosophy, art, and science from Drs. B.J. and Mabel Palmer, the developers of chiropractic.

Chiropractors Remove Interference To Your Body's Own Inborn Healing Potential

Whether you have had the direct experience, yet, or not, your body has a greater capacity to heal than you have ever been led to believe ---as long as there's no interference. That's where my profession comes in: Chiropractors work consistently to do just one thing and that's to remove interference to your body's own inborn healing potential. Nothing satisfies me more than watching someone get his or her life back, again, after silently wondering, "Is is going to be like this forever? Am I going to have to suffer like this for the rest of my life?"

The Boos Family

Chiropractic is my Hobby

My main hobby is my work which may sound boring or seem to indicate I'm a workaholic, but it's what I live to do. If I'm not in the office practicing chiropractic or out of town teaching about chiropractic, I'm on the radio talking about chiropractic. Please feel free to tune each Sunday at 9 a.m. for "Living Well LIVE" on AM 740, FM 102.3News Talk KRMG. I have been known to go on a sailing vacation, occasionally, and have a fondness for the ocean. If I can't reach the beach, you'll find me with my dog and a good cigar taking it easy in my backyard. My wife and I have three grown kids: Ethan who is married and living and teaching with his wife,Tiffany, in Saudi Arabia, Claire, who we are lucky to have working with us in the clinic along with her husband, Dr. Matt, and our youngest, Holly, a fashion stylist, presently working in Dallas. Our children have always shared our chiropractic lifestyle even half way around the world.

Living the Chiropractic Lifestyle

I'm not only a chiropractic "employee", I'm also a chiropractic patient, as is every member of my family. My favorite chiropractor was my father. He passed on several years ago, but the great memories of his weekly care are still present. As odd as it may sound to most folks, I adjusted each of my children the very day of their births. If I couldn't receive regular chiropractic care, I don't know what I would do.

My 30 plus years experience as a doctor and 50 something as a chiropractic patient prove to me that any living thing with a spine and nerve system will absolutely benefit from chiropractic care. More importantly, if you suffer from vertebral subluxations and fail to have them corrected, you will never experience excellent health. I hope I someday have the opportunity to sit down knee to knee with you and find out your health concerns and goals. If I think I can help, I'll tell you, and if I think I can't help you, I'll tell you that, too.

Dr. Boos Asks some important questions of interest to Tulsa residents - Chiropractor Tulsa Dr. Boos Asks...

Why is a "slipped disc" unlikely?
Separating each spinal vertebra is a disc. Its fibrous outer ring holds in a jelly-like material. Because of the way a disc attaches to the spinal bones above and below it, it can't actually "slip." However, a disc can bulge, tear, herniate, thin and collapse. But it can't slip.
Is a muscle spasm a cause or an effect?
With the knee-jerk use of muscle relaxers, you'd think it was a cause. But it's an effect. Chiropractors know that bones don't move unless muscles move them. And muscles don't contract unless commanded by the nervous system. That's why your nervous system is the focus of our Tulsa chiropractic practice.
